Na Naoi gCeangal
Every Irish man and woman who aspires to be great, to reach the zenith of their fate, and be counted among the heroes, must pledge themselves to these nine true principles. Not to always live perfectly, but to aspire to them, and have the humility to recognise when he or she falls short.
I – Speak Truth
Even when it diminishes you, for truth is the first and last weapon of the warrior and king.
II – Master Yourself
Before you hope to master another, for you could never truly know another before knowing yourself.
III – Keep Your Word
Every word you speak is a geas upon yourself, so speak with care and measure.
IV – Be Measured in Power
A man or woman is not respected who destroys beyond necessary, same as one who withholds when justice commands.
V – Give Generously
But be no fool. When the sincere and needy come to your door, treat them as kings.
VI – Stand Firm in Justice
Even when it diminishes you, yet not when it destroys you. Wait for your time, for all evil eventually destroys itself.
VII – Honour Order
But not blindly. Station and merit is earned, but tyranny does not deserve your servitude.
VIII – Seek Wisdom
Over victory. All muscles weaken, all voices tremble, but the truth of the matter never changes.
IX – Accept Fate & Leave Worth Behind
Be mindful that you will one day die and that fate has chosen your path to it. Be mindful of the world you leave behind, for the sake of love and with a mind you may return here one day.
